Tracking SQC (Statistical Quality Control) data can impact your business’s ability to improve the quality of your products. While many companies do minimal SQC Tracking, or track SQC through ineffective means (on paper or spreadsheets), others do practically nothing to improve quality.
SQC Software'
To track product quality, one needs to collect accurate data. Most systems provide data entry screens that allow users to input relevant data that is later compiled and compared to SQC standards. Some systems collect data via automation, such as: PLCs, scales, micrometers, scanners, etc. The database that holds this information should be formatted to store the data so that it can be filtered and retrieved for charts and detailed reports.
SQC production efficiency may seem simple, but depending on the complexity of a company’s operations, gathering and analyzing real-time data often requires flexibility within a system. The majority of SQC systems are too simple to perform the proper calculations or are so complex that they are not user friendly.
One option is “off-the-shelf”/”out-of-the-box” software. Software that is meant to be used as is for a multitude of companies often fails on the shop floor due to the innate intricacies in manufacturing companies. Configurable software allows for a user friendly interface with all the necessary structure needed to effectively track SQC. Unfortunately agile software is not easy to find and completely custom software is almost impossible to upgrade or modify at a later date.
One software vendor that configures and implements flexible SQC Tracking software is Tuppas Software Corporation. Along with many other modules (shop floor and business apps), Tuppas is very familiar with SQC systems.
